Plastic Pallets Vs. Wood and cardboard

In recent years more and more businesses, companies and industries discover the advantages of plastic packaging and shipping products compared to cardboard boxes and wooden pallets. And rightly so. Plastic pallets, crates, and boxes offer many advantages that save our customers space, time and money. So what is it that makes our plastic products so attractive?

Plastic vs. wood pallets

Size and weight

We offer plastic pallets in a wide range of sizes and weights, so our customers can choose the best pallets that are most suitable for their needs. Lightweight pallets are an excellent choice when your goods are not heavy, or when you want to save on the costs of air freight and export. In comparison, wooden pallets are large and heavy, and can’t be customized to fit customers’ requirements.

Storage space

We produce plastic pallets in a wide range of sizes, dimensions, and weights, to fit the needs of every customer. Many of our products are nestable plastic pallets designed to nest on top of each other when not in use, which saves a lot of storage space. In comparison, wooden pallets come in a limited number of sizes and do not nest, which makes them a less efficient choice for shipping and storage.

Cleaning options and protection against humidity

Plastic pallets and crates do not absorb humidity and are resistant to dampness. Some plastic products such as our solid wall crates and totes are completely sealed, protecting their contents from any damage that could result from weather conditions, humidity, chemicals, pollutants, etc. All our plastic products can be easily cleaned and prepared for reuse. Just one quick wash, and your plastic products are as good as new! By contrast, wood pallets absorb humidity and dampness, which changes their tare weight and causes bending; they may crumble and leave behind debris such as shavings and dirt, and they contain nails and protruding chips that can damage their contents.

Pests

Wooden pallet products can become a habitat for insects and pests, so they must undergo strict cleaning and decontamination processes when used for export and import. Many countries restrict the entry of wooden crates and pallets, to prevent pest infestations. Plastic pallets and crates are alternative to wood and by using them you can avoid this problem altogether.

Standard weight

Our advanced manufacturing technologies enable us to produce lines of identically-sized plastic products, and to brand and mark them according to the customer’s requirements. Using crates and pallets with a standard weight makes weighing your own goods quick and easy. This is in contrast to crates and pallets that come in different weights, which need to be weighed separately in a very time-consuming process. Plastic products are therefore a far superior choice for shipping goods, offering an enormous logistical advantage.

Automation and branding

Unlike branding and marking of wooden products, which is typically done by crude, inelegant painting on the sides of the pallet, we can customize our plastic products to your needs using the most advanced technologies. You can choose the color of your products, add high-quality branding, and make your products trackable by marking them with barcodes and RFID.

Reuse

Most of our products are designed for reuse, which enables our customers to significantly reduce their consumption of shipping and packaging products, to save a lot of money and of course, to help protect the environment. What’s more, our customers can send us back their used pallets and crates for recycling, in return for money. Although wooden products can also be reused, their lifetime is usually considerably shorter than that of plastic products, due to high wear and tear. Wooden products soon become unusable, which means that new products must be purchased more often.

Saving money

The bottom line is that plastic products are the most cost-effective choice, thanks to a number of advantages: The ability to tailor plastic products to your exact needs; efficient storage; simple cleaning and maintenance; lower weight, meaning lower shipping costs; high durability which allows long-term reuse, and recyclability. By contrast, wooden products are bulky and heavy, taking up costly storage space, which makes them more expensive to air freight. They cannot be reused in the long term due to their high wear and tear and limited cleaning options.

Plastic vs. cardboard

Cleaning and reuse

Plastic crates are an ideal choice for various industries, as they can be easily prepared for reuse by cleaning. By contrast, cardboard boxes are characterized by high wear and tear, and they obviously cannot be cleaned or washed, which makes them disposable.

Impermeability

Many industries (such as textile and pharmaceuticals, among others) must store goods in solid sealed crates to keep out humidity, liquids, pests and dirt. Our range of solid plastic crates provides a perfect solution, offering excellent protection of the goods stored inside. By contrast, cardboard boxes are not resistant to humidity and cannot prevent liquids or pests from entering and damaging the goods.

Durability and sturdiness

All our plastic products are manufactured from the best available raw materials, and are exceptionally durable and sturdy. This is a major advantage for shipping heavy goods as well as for reuse. Plastic products have low wear and tear, can endure extreme temperatures, are not affected by humidity and keep their contents safe at all times. Cardboard boxes, however, have low durability and high wear and tear, which means they cannot be used under extreme weather conditions. They are also not sturdy enough to handle heavy goods. When cardboard boxes are exposed to humidity, which is common in cooling and ripening rooms, they absorb moisture which weakens them and can damage their contents.

Waste

Cardboard boxes wear easily and are not usually used more than once. This means that they frequently need to be replaced, which results in accumulating cardboard waste that needs to be disposed of. Because plastic crates are designed for long-term reuse and recycling, they do not need to be replaced so frequently, which significantly reduces the amount of waste and the time-consuming hassle of disposing of it.

Convenience

In many cases plastic crates do not require any assembly or disassembly, so handling them is quicker and simpler than cardboard boxes, which must be manually set up and dismantled.

Plastic products have many significant advantages in comparison with both wood and cardboard products. They can save considerable storage space, time and money. Would you like to move on to using our plastic products? We will be delighted to offer you the best products tailored specifically to your needs.
